Indemnity by Paula Wiseman

After years of believing Chuck's affair is behind them, Bobbi's marriage is tested again when Tracy Ravenna resurfaces. Tracy's not alone, though. Jackson Charles Ravenna is the newest student in Bobbi's first grade class and the spitting image of her husband. When Chuck decides to pursue joint custody, they discover Jack isn't the only secret Tracy's been hiding.

As Tracy's past begins to threaten their future with Jack, Bobbi is forced to face the unsettling truth about God's grace. But this time, what will it cost to forgive the unforgivable?

I GIVE THIS BOOK: 5 Stars

MY THOUGHTS:
When I first read that Tracy was back, my first thought was, "not again! They have just gotten their lives back in order." Now that they are past what happened, and learn that the affair produced a child, everything they thought was over and done with is being dredged back to the surface again.

'Indemnity' picks up the story seven years after the affair that almost destroyed Chuck and Bobbi's marriage, when Bobbi trusted Chuck again. Everything seemed to be back to normal - better than before actually - but now that Tracy is back and with a child (Jack) that is most certainly Chuck's, Bobbi is not sure she ever really dealt with it all.

Jack is a very sweet child and you can't help but fall in love with him right away, regardless of who his mother is. However, when Chuck wants to get joint-custody of him, Bobbi has a hard time accepting him as his son. Every time he has a father/son moment with Jack, Bobbi has a hard time with it. Jack is a very perseptive boy and notices her reaction to him, which he interprets as her disliking him - which is not the case. She just can't get past the fact that he is a constant reminder of Chuck's infidelity.

I enjoyed this story even more than 'Contingency' - which I LOVED. So that tells you how much I enjoyed this one. I think that Paula Wiseman is an excellent author. Her writing reminds me a lot of Francine Rivers and I think that once she is more well-known, others will think so too. I cannot recommend this book enough - it is FANTASTIC! However, if you want to have the full background story, make sure to read 'Contingency' first.
