Chameleon by Cidney Swanson (Review)

Chameleon (Ripple, #2)Sixteen-year-old Samantha Ruiz has a lot on her mind. The crush who kissed her but changed his mind. The BFF who thinks Sam is in an abusive relationship. The geneticist who wanted Sam dead but now wants her ALIVE. And of course, Sam’s still dealing with a tendency to disappear into thin air.

When Sam learns of her nemesis Helmann’s Nazi-like plan to establish a Thousand-Year Reign, she’s determined to fight him. Along with Will and Mickie, Sam flees to France to meet Sir Walter—their best hope for stopping Helmann’s brave new world.

But Sam isn’t any safer in France. Someone is following her. Someone invisible. Sam will have to figure out how to hide from an enemy she can’t even see.

I GIVE THIS BOOK: 5 Stars

MY THOUGHTS:
'Chameleon' was definitely worth the wait! I enjoyed every page of this book! I don't read a lot of fantasy, but there is just something I love about this series!

In this book, Sam, Will and Mickie travel to France to meet with Waldhart de Rochefort (Sir Walter). He teaches them more about Rippling or being a Chameleon - as he calls it. It is also from Sir Walter that they learn more about the experiments that were in the "Black Book" and about the man who conducted them.

In 'Rippler' I didn't like Mickie, Will's older sister and his guardian, at all. I thought she was very annoying, but my opinion of her changed greatly in 'Chameleon'. I actually like her now. She is still bossy and controlling, because she cares for Will and Sam's safety, but the manner in which she does it wasn't annoying to me at all this time.

Gwyn, Sam's best-friend, won't speak with Sam until she stops seeing Will, because Gwyn believes that Sam is being physically abused by him. She doesn't believe Sam when she tells her that Will isn't hurting her. Sam can't tell her the real cause of her injuries, because that would mean telling her about her ability and in turn Will's ability. I felt so sorry for Gwyn in the last book because of this. I mean she cares so deeply for her friend and hates seeing her hurt. She thinks that she is doing a good thing, but she is so far off base!

I loved 'Chameleon' even more than 'Rippler' and I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I highly recommend these books. I think that you would very much enjoy these books, especially if you like fantasy. Because the story is a continuation, they should be read in order.
